Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 13 April 2026

1. About these terms

These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the Finantr platform, including the website at finantr.com and the Finantr mobile application (together, the "Service").

The Service is operated by Finantr Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 17154089), with a registered address at Portland House, Durham DH1 1TW ("Finantr", "we", "us", "our").

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

To use Finantr you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Be resident in the United Kingdom.
  • Hold a valid UK National Insurance Number.
  • Be registered with HMRC as self-employed or as a landlord.
  • Have a Government Gateway account with access to Making Tax Digital (MTD) services.

3. The Service

Finantr provides an automated Making Tax Digital (MTD) service that:

  • Connects to your bank account via FCA-regulated Open Banking (TrueLayer) in read-only mode to retrieve transaction data.
  • Classifies transactions and calculates an estimated UK income tax and National Insurance liability in real time.
  • Submits quarterly income and expense summaries to HMRC via the MTD API on your behalf.

Important limitation

Finantr provides tax calculations and MTD submissions only. We are not a regulated financial adviser, tax adviser, or accountant. Tax estimates are not formal tax advice. You remain legally responsible for the accuracy and completeness of all information submitted to HMRC. If you have complex tax affairs, you should consult a qualified accountant or tax adviser.

4. Your account

You are responsible for:

  • Keeping your login credentials secure and not sharing them with any third party.
  • Ensuring the information you provide (including your NI Number and HMRC credentials) is accurate and up to date.
  • All activity that occurs under your account.
  • Notifying us immediately at help@finantr.com if you suspect unauthorised access.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that we reasonably believe have been compromised, are being used fraudulently, or are in violation of these terms.

5. Open Banking & HMRC authorisation

When you connect your bank account or HMRC account to Finantr:

  • You authorise Finantr to retrieve transaction data from your bank via TrueLayer on a read-only basis. We cannot move, transfer, or access funds.
  • You authorise Finantr to submit quarterly MTD updates to HMRC on your behalf using your Government Gateway credentials.
  • You can revoke either authorisation at any time from your account settings.

Revoking authorisation will stop future syncing and submissions but will not affect data already submitted to HMRC.

6. Subscription and billing

Finantr is a paid subscription service. Details of current plans and pricing are available at finantr.com/#pricing.

  • Free trial — new accounts receive a 30-day free trial. No payment is taken until the trial ends.
  • Billing — subscriptions are billed monthly in advance via Stripe. By providing payment details you authorise recurring charges.
  • Cancellation — you may cancel at any time. Access continues until the end of the current billing period. No refunds are issued for partial periods.
  • Price changes — we will give at least 30 days' notice of any price increase by email.
  • Failed payments — if a payment fails, we will notify you by email. Access may be suspended until payment is resolved.

Refund requests within 14 days of a charge, where the Service has not been meaningfully used, may be considered at our discretion. Contact help@finantr.com.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Provide false, misleading, or fraudulent information, including false tax data.
  • Use the Service to submit incorrect or fraudulent returns to HMRC knowingly.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or interfere with the Service.
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of HMRC rules.
  • Share your account with others or allow third parties to use your HMRC credentials on our platform without authorisation.

8. Intellectual property

All content, software, algorithms, and design elements of the Finantr Service are owned by or licensed to Finantr Ltd and are protected by UK and international intellectual property law. You may not reproduce, redistribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.

You retain ownership of your personal financial data. You grant us a limited licence to process that data solely to provide the Service.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law:

  • Finantr is not liable for any penalties, fines, or interest charges levied by HMRC arising from inaccurate information you provided or from delays caused by HMRC systems.
  • Finantr is not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental losses, including loss of profits or loss of tax reliefs.
  • Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim under these terms shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

10. Service availability

We aim to maintain high availability of the Service but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may temporarily suspend the Service for maintenance, and will give reasonable notice where possible. We are not liable for downtime caused by third-party services (HMRC systems, TrueLayer, Stripe, or internet infrastructure).

11. Termination

You may close your account at any time from your account settings or by emailing help@finantr.com.

We may terminate or suspend your account without notice if you breach these terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or if we are required to do so by law.

On termination, your data is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms and Conditions. We will notify you by email at least 14 days before material changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
